Optimising Gastrointestinal care through Quality Endoscopy. Presented by Dr Sunny Lee
THIS TALK WAS PRESENTED LIVE DURING THE INAUGURAL MEDD LIVE 2020 VIRTUAL MEDICAL CONFERENCE
Optimising Gastrointestinal care through Quality Endoscopy, changes to guidelines and treatment in 2020
Learning Objectives:
1. Understanding of important quality indicators in endoscopy
2. Update on important guidelines
3. Optimising path of care according to the patient’s indication
Abstract:
Endoscopy plays a vital role in the care of gastrointestinal issues and diseases. The information provided, however, is only as good as the examination that was performed. The quality of an examination furthermore determines appropriate therapy, both at the time of the procedure and also subsequent care (as guided by surveillance guidelines). The presentation will discuss the important aspects of an endoscopic examination, its ‘reporting’ and expand on management approaches. The importance of patient selection for endoscopic procedures when a resource becomes restricted (ie COVID-19) and how choosing different pathways towards endoscopy can ultimately lead to better gastrointestinal care.
