- Recognise early and common presentations of vascular disease in general practice, including peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysms, venous insufficiency, and diabetic foot complications.
- Apply appropriate diagnostic tools (such as ankle–brachial index, Doppler ultrasound and vascular imaging) to support timely and accurate assessment of vascular conditions.
- Implement evidence-based management and preventive strategies, including cardiovascular risk factor modification, pharmacological therapies, and conservative approaches to chronic limb-threatening ischaemia.
- Determine when referral to vascular surgery or specialist care is required, and differentiate between conservative, urgent, and elective referral pathways.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care with allied health, podiatry, diabetes educators and vascular specialists to optimise long-term outcomes and reduce complications such as stroke, amputation, and hospital readmission.
