Herpes Zoster in At-Risk Patients

Course Details

Shingles is more than just a painful rash — for older and immunocompromised patients, it can lead to serious and long-lasting complications. With an ageing population and increasing numbers of at-risk adults, it’s essential that both GPs and Specialists stay up to date on prevention and management.

Healthscope, in collaboration with Infectious Disease Specialist, Dr Clinton Colaco are providing HCPs with the opportunity to revisit this important topic and earn 3.5 hours of CPD towards their annual requirements. This CPD activity is accredited for both Specialists and GPs.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Review the incidence and prevalence of herpes zoster in the Australian community
  2. Review the pathogenesis of Herpes zoster affecting patients
  3. Identify patients at risk and the subsequent sequelae associated with patients who have co-morbidities or are elderly
  4. Discuss safety and efficacy data for Herpes Zoster immunisation therapy

This is an approved CPD Home Activity and RACGP CPD activity with an allocated 0.5 hours of Education Activities (EA), 2 hour of Measuring Outcomes (MO), and 1 hour of Reflective Practice (RP) under the RACGP 2023-25 CPD program.
